You can find a class at any level, starting as a beginner and progressing toward being a professional.
We offer broad range of classes by authentic professional dancers.

Introduction to the course

Through an agreement with the Corporations Cultural Barranquilla (Colombia) and the Santiago Alfonso’s dance company (Cuba), a major dance organization, professional instructors arrive in Fukuoka every 6 months to provide Latin Dance lessons.

Although the focus is on Salsa and Merengue, the instructors are also well versed in several kinds of dance, from traditional to modern.

Regular Group lessons are divided into 4 levels; introductory, beginner, intermediate, and advance. We provide comprehensive dance lessons in Salsa, Merengue, Mambo, Cha cha cha, Son, traditional dances to Latin hip-hop, reggaeton of modern ones.

3. Technique classes aimed to group lessons’ students for free are held monthly.
In addition to techniques that allow you to review the basics, there are lessons that incorporate Latin dance, tango, and flamenco, fostering increased cultural interaction.

If you are not able to find a suitable time schedule, please feel free to contact us.

We also offer a 2-month trial course for people with little experience. If you are not sure aboutregistering for a regular class, we recommend that you try this trial course.
60 minutes per class / once a week / 8 weeks (2 months)
It is an ideal option compared to a regular class. We recommend that you register for this course if you want to try out the basics before taking a regular class!

Lesson fee: 13,300 yen (8 classes)

* We will offer this course when a minimum of 4 people or more register.
* Annual membership fee of 3,000 yen is NOT required for this course, but if you start a regular introductory group class after this course, this payment will be required.
* Even if this course has started, you may still be able to join with a per diem charge, so please contact us.

Special benefits for students:

A special benefit for regular dance students is that they can participate in free classes held monthly.
Students can participate in free classes of the course they are currently taking regardless the dance genre. In addition, students from other lessons can also take this course if they pay the tuition fee (1,500 yen).

A private one-on-one class is particularly useful to anyone who wishes to make maximum progress in minimum time, or has specific needs, or requires a flexible schedule and/or theme.

Tuition fees

We offer Latin dance workshops with various themes every month such as Latin Hip-hop, Latin jazz, and Afro-Cuban dance.
Other themes are ON2, Bachata, Reggaeton, Cha cha cha, Mambo, Cuban rumba, Afro-Cuban, Orishas, Cumbia, Rock’n roll, Contemporary, Cabaret, technique of pair dance etc.
If you already have experience in the theme of a workshop, you can register for the class without taking a regular class or being a member of TIEMPO.

Workshop schedule

Your instructors are experienced choreographers, so you may have opportunities to perform with their choreography. Many TIEMPO members choose to participate and perform every time, due to the valuable experience of practicing their dance skills, and creating and performing as a team.

 

"Isla de Salsa"

We organize and hold a music festival, “Isla de Salsa World Beat Festival” every summer. This festival includes magnificent live performances of domestic and international musicians and dancers.
As well, TIEMPO members perform at this event.

One of our big events every winter is “Muevete”. Outstanding performances of guest musicians, dancers, instructors, and TIEMPO members.

Instructors

Tiempo maintains a well-established system of inviting instructors and typically offer 3- or 6-month exchanges with dance professionals from Spain and Latin America, often hosting teachers from Brazil, Argentina and Cuba. In this way, and through the exciting world of dance and its varied forms or expression, the center continues to offer variety and diversity to its membership, build new relationships and strengthen older ones.

Artistic advisor

Santiago Alfonso
(Cuba)

Director, Santiago Alfonso’s Dance Company, Cuba.
Artistic director, dancer, choreographer and teacher. One of the founding members of Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, who was subsequently choreographer and director of the Conjunto Folklórico. National and artistic director of the famous cabaret, Tropicana. Santiago's work focusses on incorporating modern and contemporary dance, theatre codes and popular dances.
In 2004, he famously directed the Takarazuka Opera group in Japan. He received an award in honor of the domestic culture improvement of Cuba and because of his contribution to the development of young and talented dancers in his highly acclaimed domestic and international Santiago Alfonso Dance Company.

Marcelo Stella
(Argentina)

He has wide-ranging experience in dance performances at the Salsa World Congress opening and many other shows. Since his visit to Japan as a dancer and lecturer in 2000, he has contributed greatly to the popularity of salsa and casino in Fukuoka.
Currently he lives in Fukuoka. He is not only an experienced dancer and lecturer, but he has also worked as an event producer, director, DJ and choreographer.

Ricardo Murillo & Claudia Nuñez
(Colombia)

Ricardo Murillo : Champion of the Cabaret division at the World Salsa Championship (WSC) held in Las Vegas in 2005. He is a skilled dancer with a track record of placing in numerous salsa world competitions. He served as a judge at the 2007 WSC in Beijing and was selected as the image character and special guest for the 2008 Salsa World Congress in Switzerland.

Claudia Nuñez : A native of Cali, Colombia, she achieved numerous first and second-place finishes in national salsa competitions before participating in international competitions such as salsa world championships. She is currently an active dancer and instructor at Baile Stilo y Sabor, the dance academy founded by her instructor, Ricardo.

She has been learning Latin dance at Tiempo Iberoamericano since 2013.
From the fall of 2015, she studied abroad for about 9 months in Cuba at the Afro-Cuban Dance Course at Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) where she studied with local students. Additionally, Yuka was taken under former National Folkloric Company of Cuba top dancers such as Israel Valdés, Yenis Flores and Ernesto Trujillo.
She is Tiempo Iberoamericano's Latin Dance Troupe "Anacaona" member since 2017.
From November 2019 she went to Barcelona and returned to Japan in March 2020.

Balodia Rodriguez
(Cuba)

He is the one of the most important representatives of the Afro dance in the world. He has danced for 21 years in the national folklore of Cuba, becoming first dancer from the year 2005. He has not only danced in the best stages of the world, but also given his knowledge to the professionals who dance today, teacher of teachers.
He is a percussionist and multifunctional dancer, not only dances Afro Cuban, manages all Cuban popular rhythms. He knows the history of the dances, including in his classes or his dances the history of the Black Dance, in the other word, He is the living culture of Cuba.

Group projection "ANACAONA"

It started the dance course division of Tiempo in 2013.
The dance team of the Latin dance Division in Tiempo in 2013 is "Anacaona (Anacaona)".
It consists mainly of students who are selected from the Advanced class of the Latin Dance lessons, and since the fall of 2012, we have been invited from various Tiempo events and external events such as Isla de salsa. "Anacaona" is the name of a real woman, the meaning is the flower of gold in the age of the discovery of Columbus continent. She is the first female tribe in the Taino tribe and is a heroic woman who has beauty, intelligence, literary talent, and leadership are a heroic woman. As the name of it, brilliant and powerful performance will be shown.

Group Projection: A group of four or more selected students of the regular class, focusing on the stage based on the high level of dance techniques has already mastered, and more advanced skills, knowledge, expressive skills.
The dance team that has experience is Group projection. The members were also the first students to start from the introductory class.
If you are interested in expressing yourself through dance on the stage, I hope that you try to be a member of Anacaona.

• The collection of tuition fees is outsourced to the Fukuoka Bank, and a withdrawal fee of 140 yen will be added each month.

If you know a language, you will enjoy dance lessons even more.
For example, if you are a flamenco student and you are attending a Spanish language lesson, the cost is the following:

Flamenco 13,600 yen + Spanish 10,500 yen
Total 24,100 yen
However, with the Duo Discount of 22%, the cost will be 18,798 yen
In other words, the second course (Spanish) will be about half the price (5,198 yen)!!

DUO 2  Dance Course + Dance Course
(20% discount from the total tuition fee)

Latin dance, Tango, flamenco and or Arabian dance.
For students that want to take many courses, we recommend this discount!
For example, if a tango student attends Latin dance classes the cost will be as the following:

Tango 13,600 yen + Latin dance 9,500 yen
Total: 23,100 yen with 20% discount, the cost will be 18,480 yen
In other words, the second course (Latin dance lesson) will be about half the price (4,880 yen)!!

If you take two classes in each course, you will receive the discount.

7% discount on total family tuition.

The first family member (all courses) + second family member (all courses) + 3rd...
A 7% discount on the total tuition fee for all students, such as couples, parents or family members.

* The tuition fee will be withdrawn, however, from a common bank account.

In this case, the third Latin dance tuition will receive a 90% discount!!
